The Origin of Lacrosse

Now, lacrosse is the national sport of Canada.
The beginning, lacrosse is combat sport of Indian. 300 years ago, Indian of North America was doing a ball game to cultivate stamina and courage for battle and hunt, and to wish the tribal peace and health and do good.
The white emigrants (habitant) who went over to the American continent from the Europe saw that with admiration, and made rule as a sport together, and started to play together. White men associated a stick of the bishop with a bent stick and named 'la crosse' in French. They introduced lacrosse to the Europe, and 18 Indians made an expedition to the Europe in 1863.
Thereafter, club teams were established in USA, Canada, England and matured as sports and foreign student to USA of each country brought it in the mother country and spread as global sports.
In that way the first team was made in Japan in 1986 by Keio University.
Now, it is played at World Cup.
